Dr. Dave Mason, Chief Scientist

Dr. Mason is in the very truest sense of the word, a genius. Dr. Mason brings to Swurv an immense amount of experience, technical and creative aptitude. He has been widely published and has refereed numerous conferences internationally in the field of computer science and software reliability.
Dr. Mason has extensive experience in operating systems: Linux/Unix (19 years including 15 years of systems administration), VM/CMS, VMS, RSX11, RSTS/E (including writing devices drivers or other system level programming in all of the foregoing), MVS, SCOPE, and various `DOS's - including systems administration of Microsoft Windows; and programming languages: thousands of lines of code (in several cases many thousands) written in each of C, Scheme, SML, CAML, Java, Pascal, FORTRAN, BASIC, and PDP11 and S/370 Assemblers; some programs written in LISP, LOGO, Ada, Simula67, Smalltalk, PL/I, IFP, assembly languages for Sparc, i80x86, Alpha, MC68000, MIPS, VAX, NS32000, MC6809, Z80, and CDC6000.
As a professor at Ryerson University Dr. Mason has designed and taught courses in: Analysis of Algorithms, Compilers, Advanced Compilers, Comparative Programming Languages, Operating Systems, Computer Graphics, Computer Architecture, Data Communications, Distributed Systems, Advanced Data Structures & Software Engineering, Introductory Computer Science, and Intermediate Computer Science. An educator since 1981 Dr. Mason has also served on many administrative committees.
